Live in a Bright Town

31st October 2003

This week BBC Radio 1 hosted its One Live series of events in the musically diverse and culturally rich seaside town of Brighton.  Several live music and radio events rocked the beach-front throughout the week; need we mention Basement Jaxx?!  Scattered among the events were some self help advice sessions and seminars available free for anyone who happened to turn up and take part.

Not one to miss an opportunity, James Weston took a day out on Wednesday to be a part of a day of DJ and production workshops being held at the temporary BBC Radio 1: One Live in BrightonOne Live Café, better known as the Honey Club.  As well as a great place to meet like-minded people there was live entertainment and a Question & Answer session.  Industry peeps, Seamus Haji (Big Love), Chris Coco (Radio 1 Blue Room), Damian Harris (Midfield General / Skint), and Nick Franglen (Lemon Jelly) formed a very informative panel.

As for workshops, James arrived in plenty of time to sign up with DJ Lottie for one-to-one a demo listening slot.  Not much listening went on under Kings Road Arches while James and Lottie enthused about exciting times in clubbing, ‘talking shop!’  Several similarities were drawn including James’ position now and how things started happening for Lottie when she was 25... She can’t be much older than that, surely! ;-)  Suffice to say Lottie is in possession of James Weston’s official DJ Promo CD and upon reading the tracklisting she was very excited about listening to it.  Over to you Lottie!
