Stocking filler or dancefloor killa?
29th November 2003
James Weston has produced a ‘proper’ demo-CD to promote his talent. The aim is to win performances at higher profile events and ultimately a respected club/bar residency. James admits, “I’ve still got plenty to learn and I’m open to all opportunities.” With circulation already in limited numbers, the demo has been well received by peers and industry peeps. James plans to widely distribute it in the New Year.
The CD consists of two mixes showing skill, selection, diversity, versatility and is packaged up with a track-list and splendid business card ;-)
The first mix is James’ winning mix as selected by Yousef when he opened a DJ Competition for 6 lucky DJ’s to perform at his club, Circus, in Liverpool. There were thousands of entries! The brief was to play in Circus’ bar section of the Masque Theatre, and the entry was to be no more than 30 minutes. James certainly captured his audience well with what has now been dubbed the Bright Sexy Bar Mix.
The second mix was created a year later demonstrating more skill, selection, direction and surprise. The set was to compliment the Circus competition mix, already destined for the demo CD. Weighing in at just under 53 minutes, it is called the Dark Filthy Club Mix and features a bold opening dipping into a more sinister tone and then finishing with some light at the end of the tunnel.
Stocking filler or dancefloor filler? Decide for yourself!
